Live Review: Bruce Springsteen at HP Pavilion

Bruce Springsteen review: Showing who’s the Boss: Aidin Vaziri | Sweat glistening on his brow and a wide smile stretching across his face, Bruce Springsteen dropped to his knees midway through his sold-out concert at the HP Pavilion at San Jose on Tuesday. As he led a slightly modified version of the E Street Band through the long-running live favorite “Thundercrack,” he stuck his microphone in the faces of a few stunned fans at the foot of the stage, attempting to trade verses with them. The results were predictably awful. But Springsteen looked thrilled. “This is why I’m the one getting paid,” he chortled. There was one person in the crowd of nearly 20,000 who was clearly having a better time than everyone else, and it was the one in the center of it all.
