Aidin Vaziri | Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo haven’t had much time to rest since releasing “I Love It.” The euphoric single has taken the Swedish electro-pop duo to stages around the world, landed them on TV shows like “Dancing With the Stars” and “America’s Got Talent,” and ignited sales of their debut album, “This Is … Icona Pop.” Next year, the band will support Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus on their arena tours. Icona Pop will close out 2013 at the Fillmore on Wednesday (rescheduled from August). We spoke with Jawo from New York last week.
Q: You’ve had a pretty remarkable year except for the tragic fact that you had to cancel your last San Francisco show.
A: I know. That was terrible. It was really serious. Me and Caroline don’t get sick often, but when we get sick, we get really sick.
Q: Next year looks like it’s going to be even better – you’re touring with Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry. Are you excited or terrified?
A: I think it’s going to be very different. We come from the club scene, and playing on a big stage is a totally different thing. It’s going to be such a fun tour. I know Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry are very involved in picking their opening acts. It’s nice when you meet people who are so popular and they’re so down-to-earth.
