Aidin Vaziri | The scrappy Irish singer-songwriter Hozier – born Andrew Hozier Byrne – doesn’t look as if he’s capable of imitating a full gospel choir, but his breakout hit, “Take Me to Church,” which went viral late last year, says otherwise. His follow-up, the “From Eden” EP, was released to coincide with his current U.S. tour and verify that the last single was no fluke. “Work Song” and “Arsonist’s Lullabye” echo the reverential stomp of his signature tune, while Hozier demonstrates he can also temper the intensity with the swaggering title track. All around it signals the arrival of a 24-year-old artist whose distance embrace of the American blues is all encompassing. Hozier performs Wednesday at the Chapel in San Francisco.
